Our self-driving cars have to adjust rapidly to the behavior of other vehicles when they make lane changes or merge. The Torc autonomous system tracks and estimates other vehicles’ behavior and sometimes must change its planned move to mitigate potential collisions.

In this video captured by a roof-mounted camera, the Torc self-driving car successfully adjusts speed and performs autonomous lane changes as a vehicle merges into its path. The Torc car enters a turning lane and begins to move over into the leftmost lane until it detects a car entering the same lane from the rear. Our car reacts by transitioning back into the original lane.

We’re showcasing the capabilities of our autonomous car system on real public roads with real scenarios the car has encountered. To get updates on the latest videos, check back on our blog or subscribe to our YouTube channel.
